Nature Heals

Nature is Everywhere

Nature is for Everyone

About the Class

In this six-hour advanced EMDR training, participants will explore how nature-informed therapy and spirituality can be meaningfully integrated into EMDR Phases 1 and 2. Drawing from ecotherapy principles and the Adaptive Information Processing (AIP) model, this training invites clinicians to consider how clients’ experiences in the natural world—both comforting and frightening—can inform case conceptualization and resourcing.

Participants will learn how the natural environment offers powerful, easily accessible adaptive memory networks that support regulation, grounding, awe, and a deepened sense of faith. Through large- and small-group experiential practice, clinicians will explore nature-based resourcing, including the Advanced AIP intervention Core Self Strategy, with and without nature, and notice the clinical impact of each. The training concludes with practical guidance for incorporating nature more intentionally into both personal and professional life, supporting ethical, embodied, and spiritually attuned EMDR practice..

Class Objectives

  1. Explore how nature supports regulation, grounding, awe, and adaptive memory networks

  2. Practice nature-based resourcing in Phase 2 through guided experiential exercises

  3. Engage the Core Self Strategy with and without nature and notice clinical differences

  4. Discuss how spirituality and a felt sense of God can emerge through nature-informed EMDR work

  5. Share practical ways to bring more nature into both your clinical work and your own life
