A small lavender business

La Fitz Lavender

Lavender grown in Kathleen’s Chapel Hill garden, made into small-batch skin oils and lotions with three ingredients, and shared at a few intimate markets a year. This one is pure delight.

How it started

I love lavender. I also love my sister.

I love to plant lavender, see it growing, and smell it. My sister has many allergies, so years ago I started making her natural lavender skin products with just three ingredients: lavender picked from my garden, grapeseed oil and olive oil.

The skin oil smelled so good that I began using it, and my skin immediately felt better. Friends and family asked if they could have some, too. So I grew a proper lavender garden and started making all kinds of lotions.

Lavender is soothing. As a therapist, I did a great deal of trauma work, and before and after sessions I used my lavender lotion.

“As I breathe in the aroma, I remember I am lovable and I feel calmer.”

At a market

Small batches, made by friends.

La Fitz markets are intimate on purpose: a few makers, neighbors and friends, and a lot of smelling things.

Skin oils and lotions made in small batches from Kathleen’s own lavender, plus whatever the garden and the season inspire. Simple ingredients you can pronounce.

Marbled cards by Julie Fenton Glass

Gorgeous hand-marbled cards, each one a little different. The kind you buy to send and then keep for yourself.

Hand-poured candles by Amanda Weinraub

Warm, clean-burning candles poured by hand. They pair very well with a lavender lotion and a quiet evening.

Markets

A few times a year, at the house.

My first ever lavender market was one December. I welcomed neighbors, family and friends to test and buy product, and their support made all the difference. Now I host a few small-batch, intimate markets a year at my home in Chapel Hill, with Julie and Amanda alongside.

  • Held in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Directions come with the market announcement.
  • Markets only for now. There is no online shop, so the list below is the way to hear about the next one.
  • Come for the lavender, stay for the conversation.

Lavender is also the bow on top of Kathleen’s EMDR trainings. Every therapist who takes EMDR, Nature & Lavender goes home with a homemade gift from this garden.
