Our team

The people in your corner.

Learning EMDR depends on strong teaching and encouragement, and just as important, it takes partnership. Every cohort is supported by a small team of consultants who have sat where you’re sitting. We need each other to do this work.

Kathleen Fitzgerald

Lead trainer

Kathleen Fitzgerald

EMDRIA Approved Trainer, Approved Consultant and Certified Therapist. Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor. Certified in EFT, EFIT, EFFT and IFS, and a certified nature therapist. A teacher before she was a therapist, and a therapist since 2001.

Kathleen builds the curriculum, teaches every training, and runs the room so that everyone is supported and nobody gets steamrolled. She’s the one answering your email.

What that means for you

More eyes on your practice. Fewer places to get lost.

In practice sessions

When you practice EMDR on each other, a member of the team is watching over your shoulder, ready to step in with a word or a question. Every practice ends with a debrief.

In consultation

The consultation hours built into Basic Training are led by Kathleen with the team’s support. You bring your own cases and leave with a plan.

After the training

The team stays reachable. Many trainees keep working with Kathleen toward certification, and some, like Charles, join the team.

“I have been very impressed by Kathleen and her team’s knowledge and expertise in teaching the complexities of EMDR. Kathleen’s approach is incremental, with training using lecture and PowerPoint followed by demonstrations of the EMDR phases and skills between her and other trainers on her team. Then, experientially, the clinicians in the training engage with one another to practice what they have been taught and seen demonstrated. Kathleen’s comprehensive design equipped me to utilize EMDR confidently and inspired me to know that it is also an art form. I highly recommend Kathleen and her team! It has significantly improved the therapeutic care I provide to clients suffering from trauma.”
