The fine print
Training policies
The plain-English rules behind every training, so you know what to expect before you register. If a question isn’t answered here, ask Kathleen.
Last updated September 2026. These policies apply to trainings registered directly with Partners in EMDR Training, PLLC. Cohorts hosted with a partner organization, such as the AACC, follow that organization’s registration and refund terms.

Registration
Your seat is confirmed when your payment is received. Seats are limited so that groups stay small, and they are filled in the order registrations arrive.
Eligibility. Trainings are for licensed mental health professionals, and for pre-licensed clinicians and graduate students in a qualifying program who are working under the supervision of a licensed mental health professional. Advanced courses also require a Certificate of Completion from a full EMDRIA-approved EMDR Basic Training. If you register for a training you are not eligible for, Kathleen will contact you before the training begins and refund you in full.
Pricing. The price and what it includes are listed with each dated training. Consultation hours that are part of Basic Training are included in the price.
Cancellations & refunds
Life happens, and Kathleen will always try to work something out. Here is the starting point.
- 30 or more days before the training begins: full refund, less a $50 processing fee.
- 14 to 29 days before: 50% refund.
- Fewer than 14 days before, or after the training begins: no refund. You may transfer your seat once, either to a future cohort of the same training or to an eligible colleague, at no charge.
- If Kathleen cancels or reschedules a training for any reason, you will be offered a seat in the new dates or a full refund, your choice.
To cancel or transfer, email kathleen@trainingemdr.com. The date of your email is the date used for the schedule above. Refunds are returned by the same method you paid, usually within ten business days.
Attendance & certificates
EMDRIA requires full attendance at every part of an EMDR Basic Training, including both training parts and the consultation hours, to earn a Certificate of Completion. The same applies to the full hours of any advanced course for its credits.
Please plan to be present, on camera for online trainings, and available for the whole of each day. If an emergency keeps you from part of a training, tell Kathleen as soon as you can. Make-up arrangements are handled case by case, and are not always possible.
Certificates are issued after the final session and after all consultation hours are complete.
Continuing education
EMDR Basic Training is EMDRIA-approved and ends with an EMDRIA-endorsed Certificate of Completion from Kathleen. Its 40 continuing education hours are issued through the American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC), an approved continuing education provider with NBCC (counselors) and ASWB (social workers). Advanced courses carry EMDRIA credits, which count toward EMDRIA Certification and renewal; any additional continuing education credit is listed with each training.
Partners in EMDR Training, PLLC is solely responsible for all aspects of its programs. Credit is awarded for full attendance only, and partial credit is not given.
Accommodations
Kathleen wants every training to be accessible. If you need an accommodation for a disability, a health condition, or anything else that would help you take part fully, please get in touch as far ahead of the training as you can, ideally at registration. Requests are handled confidentially.
For in-person days, this includes mobility needs, dietary needs for shared meals, and any concern about being outdoors. There is always a comfortable indoor option.
Conduct & confidentiality
In practice sessions you take turns as therapist and client, working with real material you choose to bring. That only works if everyone is safe. So:
- What is shared in a practice session or consultation stays in the room. Do not discuss another participant’s material outside the training.
- Practice sessions and consultation are not recorded, by Kathleen or by participants. Teaching segments may occasionally be recorded for trainees who miss a portion, and you will be told when that happens.
- When you bring your own client cases to consultation, leave out names and identifying details.
- Treat every participant with respect. Kathleen keeps the room kind, and reserves the right to remove anyone who makes it unsafe for others, without refund.
Grievances
If something about a training falls short, Kathleen wants to hear it. Please put your concern in writing to kathleen@trainingemdr.com. You will receive an acknowledgement within five business days and a response, with any remedy, within thirty days. Concerns are handled confidentially and never affect your standing in a training.
If your concern relates to EMDRIA standards and you are not satisfied with the response, you may also contact EMDRIA directly.
Weather & outdoor days
Nature courses and gatherings are planned to be outdoors, and there is always an indoor plan. In the event of severe weather, the day may move indoors, shift its hours, or in rare cases be rescheduled. If a day is rescheduled, you may attend the new date or receive a full refund. You will get a weather update by email the evening before any outdoor day.
These policies may be updated from time to time. The version on this page at the time you register is the one that applies to your registration.
